#### Education

I graduated from high school with a 4.0+ GPA, valedictorian, and over 20 credits of college coursework under my belt before completing high school due to Advanced Placement (AP) and community college credits. I attended Kansas State University where I graduated with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in an accelerated 5 year program in Biological Systems Engineering with a GPA of 3.74 in May 2013. I am currently a faculty member in the Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education department at Virginia Tech where I focus on formal and informal education.#### Experience

I have a true passion for teaching - one that brought me to Virginia Tech to improve my experience in middle school, high school, and university settings. I have formally taught as a teaching assistant at both Kansas State and Virginia Tech for multiple semesters in engineering courses. I have also taught informally at multiple middle school and high school educational camps, so I am very familiar with learning strategies that do and do not work at multiple ages. Encouraging each student to expand their understanding of a topic gives me great joy - especially when a student thought they would never comprehend the subject!Other important qualifications: I scored a 32 overall on the ACT with a 34 in math with equivalent scores on the SAT, PSAT, and GRE. And with my background in engineering, I use basic math such as algebra, geometry, and calculus daily. I am also comfortable teaching various science topics so feel free to reach out to me for assistance even if I don't have a topic listed!

#### Hobbies

I am a social butterfly who loves to interact with people from all backgrounds. I've spent multiple months at international internships with various water related projects, many of which tested my ability to step outside my bubble and use different ways to approach a problem - traits that I use quite often in the classroom. My favorite types of movies are documentaries, and to say I'm not a bit of a nerd would be a lie.I have also been heavily involved in student life at Virginia Tech and was honored to introduce President Sands at his State of the University Address this year (my profile picture).
