B.S. Biological Systems Engineering
B.S Clinical Neuroscience
I'm a Translational Biology, Medicine, and Health PhD student at Virginia Tech. I graduated from Virginia Tech in May 2018 with Bachelors degrees in Physics, Biological Systems Engineering, and Neuroscience and minors in Chemistry and Biomedical Engineering.
I've taken a variety of physics, biology, chemistry, and engineering courses that allows me to relate concepts to something students may be more familiar with.
I live in Christiansburg and work in Roanoke. I'm currently only taking physics and intro biology/neuroscience students for the 2018-2019 school year.
ExperienceI previously tutored Virginia Tech D1 Athletes in physics and biology and got exceptional reviews from the students I taught. Since then, I've tutored nearly 30 other students with majors ranging from economics to industrial systems engineering, primarily in physics and statics courses. Physics is by far my favorite course to tutor; it's a difficult subject, and I love seeing my students' light bulb moments when things start to click.
I focus on teaching the concepts and ways to approach a problem. Being able to complete your homework isn't particularly useful if you can't apply that knowledge to the test. Rather than focusing solely on getting the right numeric answer, I try to help students identify patterns so they develop a stronger understanding of the material.
I will not do your homework problems for you, but I'm happy to spend as long as you need working through the problem with you until you understand the concepts and feel comfortable solving a similar problem on your own.
HobbiesMy PhD is in neuroscience; specifically, I'm studying the innate immune response to moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI).
In my free time, I competitively power lift and do a bit of personal training with an emphasis on strength-building. It's a great stress reliever! I also love the outdoors and really enjoy hiking. I have a dog named Lucy and also foster with the Animal Welfare Foster Program.
